Why am I writing about Artificial Intelligence?
Research in Large Language Models (LLMs) and deep learning techniques (transformers / attention heads / fine-tuning / RLHF etc.) is moving at an incredible pace. The advancements and breakthroughs over the last two years have been difficult to keep up with. The implications have been even more difficult to predict.
We don’t yet know whether AI companies can continue to scale these models at this pace, and whether we will see new capabilities emerge through scaling alone. Perhaps this is unlikely.
We do know though, that by connecting these AI models to external tools, data sources, APIs and the web - they are becoming incredibly capable. These capabilities will be accessible to everyone soon through their apps and smartphones. They will be transformative.
With this in mind, my objective is to read, study and learn as much as possible about the latest research and techniques in Large Language Models, Transformers, Deep Learning and AI in general. While doing so, l will also write about AI, how to build applications on top of LLMs, and share my thoughts on where this could lead us.

I am a software developer and product manager with over 15 years experience building and shipping software products used by thousands of customers.
I was Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at Altaro Software until it was successfully acquired in 2021. Altaro is a leading backup software company.
Prior to Altaro I studied B.Sc.IT (Hons) Computer Science.
